Our favorite bhaijaan’s career has been a very carefully concocted montage of movies that have all had somewhat of a common thread tying them together. Considering that, we can make sense out of some of the movies that Salman Khan rejected. But some of these rejections make no sense at all.
Salman Khan rejected this movie, which fell into Shahrukh’s lap and then went on to make him a superstar. He probably didn’t want to tarnish his good boy image back then by playing a negative character. Such cowardice. Much disappoint. Very unwow.
Guess why Salman Khan turned down the role of Max Dias in this movie. Because from where we see it, he’s the perfect actor to play this loud-mouthed, brash goon, whose whole life revolved around gang wars and eve-teasing one poor, hapless female. But it’s probably because he didn’t want to play brother to his then-girlfriend Aishwarya Rai. Because it would require him to have some level of skills in acting.
3. Kal Ho Naa Ho
Another movie he turned down, because he didn’t want to play the supporting role of Sameer to Shahrukh’s lead role. Coz ego. And manliness. And Salman no play second fiddle.
4. Chak De! India
It makes perfect sense that Salman turned down the role of Indian Women’s World Hockey Team coach Kabir Khan. It would have required for him to encourage and motivate a bunch of average-looking young girls to win the Women’s Hockey World Cup. There is zero scope for inserting a misogynistic song or an item number in the mix.
Another role we think would have been perfect for Salman. He would have to grunt a lot, look outraged, and beat up people. He wouldn’t even have had to speak much in the second half of the movie, which is a good thing as far as Sallu bhai and the broody self-portrayal that he strives for is concerned.
6. Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge
This one we can’t really figure out. Why did you reject this movie Salman? This was right up your alley. Harass and annoy a girl all over Europe till she “falls” for you (Stockholm syndrome much?) and then go fight off her fiance and his friends in a desperate bid to impress her father.
