Grapes: You can replace grapes with citrus fruits like limes and oranges as they not only improve your blood glucose control but also prevent free radical damage due to the presence of antioxidants. If your diabetes is in control, then eating a handful of grapes (6 – 7 medium-sized ones) is okay.

Bananas: Rich in potassium and sugar, banana is also not recommended for people with uncontrolled diabetes. If your blood glucose level is under control, you can have a small banana (50 – 100 gms).

Custard apple: The fruit is loaded with glucose which can increase the risk of fluctuations in blood glucose levels. Even if your diabetes is under control, eat the fruit in moderation.

Chikoo: It is not recommended for people with uncontrolled diabetes. If your diabetes is under check, eat not more than 1/3rd cup or 80 gms of chikoo every day. Eating more than the mentioned quantity can put you at risk of health complications.

Mangoes: As mangoes have a glycemic index of above 50, it is recommended you don’t eat mangoes. If your blood glucose is under control, make sure you stick to 50 gms or less in a day. Also, never eat this after meals as it might increase your blood glucose.
